Haha! That first sentence is a great way of explaining attunement in parenting - and it is essential. As far as restaurants go, we can't expect them to get it right without practice. I try to assume all the disruptive kids in a restaurant are practicing. I rarely see a situation where parents are truly unconcerned with a child's disruptive behavior.
